Oklahoma Braces for Multi-Day Severe Weather Event
Oklahoma is in for a multi-day severe weather outbreak, but it's not all doom and gloom. The forecast, while containing hail and storms, is generally low on the tornado risks.
Here's what to expect over the next couple of days.
Friday will see the biggest chances for the first wave of this storm complex to roll across Northwestern Oklahoma for the most part. Late afternoon and evening storms, but wind and heavy rains will be the only concerns. Maybe a little hail, but the odds are low.
Saturday is the first day of a much larger outbreak. Border to border, North and South, Oklahoma is looking at heavy rain, big wind, and an extra emphasis on hail. All the same, Texas is expected to get the worst of it.
Saturday
Sunday brings Oklahoma's highest chance of damaging conditions. Sudden powerful storms, heavy rain, big wind, big hail, and an elevated chance of tornadoes.
Pretty much the same forecast we had this time last week when four tornadoes skipped across OKC.
Sunday
Normally we get one day with the biggest risks, but this one is going to linger into Monday too.
The same risks apply, slightly elevated on all accounts.
Monday
This storm system will start to move off by Tuesday, but there will be some parting gifts to Southeastern Oklahoma as it leaves. At least that's the prediction at this time, and as we roll through the weekend, it's bound to change a little bit too.
It could end up being better or worse, nobody can see the future.
Tuesday
If you have some fun stuff planned throughout the weekend, you might pay extra attention to the weather.
This doesn't mean you have to sit at home waiting for the chaos to begin, but you certainly don't want to get lost in a moment only to have to panic when it comes sweeping down the plains.
