It’s Opening Day for One of Oklahoma’s Biggest Parties

Today is the first of ten days that Oklahoma City will be celebrating the annual Oklahoma State Fair. There are contests, exhibits, rides, fair food and so much more waiting for you for the next week and a half.

The fairgrounds are going to be the busiest they are all year long, bustling with music from the headliners, animals for the livestock shows and kids showing off their skills in some of the coolest contests they've had at the fair.

If you're planning on going at any time these next 10 days, you should know which days offer which specials, including today.

Everyone knows that the first day of the state fair is always the cheapest to get in. This year, the state fair committee included these first day deals for children and college students.

For Thrifty Thursday deals by Tinker Federal Credit Union, the fair is only charging $8 outside gate admission for everyone (children 5 and under FREE), $4 Little Book of BIG DEALS, and ride all day armbands* for just $25! Today is always College Day; for college students, just show them your college I.D. and you'll only pay $5 for entry. Only 1 entry per I.D.

Next Monday, September 16, military members can get into the FREE outside gate admission and $5 Sky Eye Wheel ride tickets. This deal extends to active military, veterans and spouses and military I.D.s are required.

Tuesday is known as the "Taste of the Fair Tuesday" with an emphasis on the taste. At nearly every fair stand, they'll have $4 food items and $4 entry for the outside gate entry. The fair will also have $4 Little Book of BIG DEALS, and $4 Sky Eye Wheel ride tickets available for everyone!
