Yesterday afternoon (10-13-20) the Lawton City Council voted to keep the mandatory mask ordinance in effect until mid January of 2021. That will be the earliest or next time the members will review the ordinance to amend or remove it. So like it or not we'll be wearing face masks the rest of the year within the city limits.

It was a unanimous vote as all council members voted to keep the ordinance in place. They heard arguments for about an hour and a half both pro and con concerning the mask ordinance. Both sides were heard, those who wanted the ordinance to remain in place and those who wanted it removed. In the end the council decided that they would basically leave the mandate as is and table any further discussions for the next three months with a plan to revisit it sometime early next year in January.

Agree or disagree it looks like we'll continue wearing face masks or coverings for the foreseeable future. The great mask debate of course will continue to rage on, it's a pretty heated topic and is evenly split. Some people think we should continue wearing masks, while others don't and doubt if they're actually doing anything to prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19. These are some crazy times indeed.

I guess I'm going to have to invest in some more masks, mine are starting to get worn out. At least there's more options out there now and you can actually find them in stores vs. back when all this started. So where do you stand in the great mask debate? Take the poll below and let us know your thoughts.
