If you're looking for a job, and you're good with kids, we've got the job opening for you! The Lawton Public School District is currently looking for bus drivers to help them fill the current shortage of qualified drivers in the district. The district will conduct a training workshop next week to train and certify drivers for hiring.

The district normally has approximately 95 drivers on staff, but they are currently short close to 15 drivers, having only 81 currently working for them. This shortage leads to drivers having to drive double routes daily, which in turn leads to recurring problems getting the nearly 6 thousand students in the district that rely on bus transportation to and from school in a timely manner each morning and afternoon.

The scheduled training sessions begin Monday, Nov. 7th and will run through Saturday Nov. 12th. Classes start at 5:00 p.m. and last until 10:00 p.m. All perspective drivers will have to have a current, CDL with special endorsements before enrollment. You will also have to pass a drug screening, physical and background check. The course is free for Lawton Public Schools and $65 for everyone else. All positions are full-time.
