Depending on how you usually drive to Sam's Club and the Sheridan Road Walmart, you might have missed Lawton's newest restaurant. It's tucked away from Cache Road, but if it tastes as good as it looks, we're all in for a good meal.

If you go the back way to Sam's Club from Cache Road, as you pass McAlester's and Long John Silvers, there's a little brick strip mall where you've always been able to grab a drink and a meal. It's hard to remember, but places like Mountain Boomer Tavern and Rinie's Kitchen & Wine Bar jump out at me. It's now a restaurant called El Toro.

While El Toro hasn't officially had their grand opening yet, they are on top of their social media game driving a literal buzz around the moment they do open those doors.

At this point in time, they're staffing, training, and developing the menu in an attempt to serve something that sets them apart from the Mexicana landscape in Lawton. While most people judge a restauranté by the queso, I judge the rice. So simple, yet, so easily missed on the sheet of benchmarks. The pics of their dishes are looking mighty tasty.

Before the resident pessimists start all of their "Oh, aNoThEr MeXiCaN rEsTaUrAnT iN lAwToN... jUsT wHaT wE nEeD!" gobbledygook, I'm considering this a total win. Each of the others has something they do the best and depending on your appetite that day, you'll choose one over the other.

Besides, Mexico can't be justifiably defined as purveyors of Mexican Food... There are different regions and states all over that country that do the foods completely differently. We're so used to basic Tex-Mex in town that it'll be interesting, and hopefully delicious, to experience what El Toro does differently. I can't wait to try it.

They don't yet have any details out in public on the expected grand opening, they stay on top of their social media. If you're curious and as excited as I am, follow them on Facebook for all the details.
