Mask Up if You’re Going to the OU or OSU Season Opener

It's here, the wait is almost over. The official kick off to college football happens this weekend. If you're planning a trip to Stillwater or Norman to be a part of the season openers for OU or OSU they've asked that you wear a face mask while indoors and encourage the use of masks while in the stadium itself.

Both season openers happen this weekend, Saturday, September 4th (09-04-21) and both teams will be at home. OSU vs Missouri State in Stillwater at Boone Pickens Stadium and OSU vs Tulane in Norman at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. While fans are encouraged to wear face masks in the stadium and expected to wear them in indoor spaces it's been announced that proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the game will not be required.

Originally OU was set to start their season on the road at Tulane University, Yulman Stadium in Louisianan. Due to hurricane Ida the game was moved to Norman. Sooner fans are happy, but are saddened by the circumstances. One of the things OU fans are happiest about is that not only will we be at home, but there's no mandates for proof of vaccination or testing prior to the game.

That was going to be the case if you went to Tulane to catch the game live. The mandate was put in place by Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans and is a city/parish ordinance. NOLA has reissued most, if not all, of their COVID-19 protocols and polices due to the surge in recent positive COVID-19 and Delta variant cases.

If you're planning on making the trip to Stillwater or Norman this Saturday for the game make sure you bring a mask with you. While I haven't seen anything that says they're mandatory or required, I'd be prepared just in case. If you are going have a safe trip, enjoy the game and have a happy Labor Day weekend.
