Beginning at 12:01 am on Friday, August 1, 2014 and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday, August 3, 2014, Oklahoma will hold a sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain clothing and shoes free of sales tax. This includes state and any local sales taxes.

Retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt during the sales tax holiday. The sales tax holiday exempts the sale of clothing and shoes priced at less than $100 from sales taxes.

What's Included?  Well, clothes and shoes and underwear and stuff.  Anything that you can wear.

What's Not Included?  Jewelry and watches and accessories are not included.  Sports gear (like helmets and spiked shoes) are not included.  It's basically to buy school clothes, so know that going in.

Can I Put Stuff on Layaway?  Well, not really.  If you have stuff on Layaway and take it OUT during Tax Free Weekend, you'll not pay the tax, but if you put stuff IN Layaway and take it out later, you'll have to pay the tax.

To see what the Oklahoma Tax Commission has listed as being included in this holiday, see the list below.  I will make no comment on why they have rubber pants on this list.  I don't know what rubber pants are but I'm really excited to try them.  I'm also happy to see that girdles and wedding apparel are on this list.  I wouldn't want to give my teenage daughter anything less than the chance to get married too young in a dress in which she cannot breathe:
