Oklahoma Restaurant Gets Robot Waitress
Over the last few years we've seen several videos pop up around the internet of robotic waiters. And now the future has arrived in Oklahoma!
Since the pandemic, we've noticed several signs outside food establishments saying "We're Hiring." It's commonly known now that there is a huge shortage of staff in the food service industry all across America. In February 2022, ABC Action News highlighted how a restaurant in Florida is coping with this issue with the help of their robotic waitress "Pearl."
It's cited that "Pearl" is there to help due to low staff and burned-out current staff. Her main job is to deliver food to tables. In way it's service with a smile, because you're sure to smile of bewilderment when an animatronic waitress delivers your food after you've given your order to a human waiter. But sure by now "Pearl" is already that most valuable employee after the owner of the oyster house said:
Pearl works seven days a week. She never needs a day off. She works doubles, and she works for about $2.50 an hour.
And us Oklahomans thought self-checkout was top tier futuristic!
Of course, every time something new and fancy comes along, it's never thought of to be seen in Oklahoma - that technology is for the big cities! But soon we started seeing more automated services pop up in our local stores and restaurants.
Now the day has finally come where an Oklahoma restaurant has a robot waitress.
On January 2, Bunny's Onion Burgers South in Oklahoma City shared a photo of the newest member of its wait staff, "Bella."
"Bella" is definitely different than what Oklahomans are used to in a restaurant, but how cute is she?!
"Bella" seems to be similar to a robotic cat-like waitress that was featured in this Good Morning America highlight in November 2020.
Do you think more and more restaurants in Oklahoma will begin "hiring" robotic waitstaff?? We'll see what the future holds!
