The streaming outlet has begun development of a new series based on the 1974 cult classic, with Minority Report star Meagan Good already in line to star.

Anxious though we are to see Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, Hannibal chow Hugh Dancy, and True Detective alum Michelle Monaghan get back to work on Hulu’s new drama The Path, the streaming giant is not making it easier to discern what this new cult is all about. The war between cord-cutters and cable seems only to be widening, as networks ponder their own streaming services to thwart increasing competition like Netflix and Hulu. Cable may finally have struck back, as Time Warner considers purchasing enough stake to end Hulu’s access to current TV seasons.

Upfront season has already given us a few pickups, but so too must cancellations follow. FOX’s The Mindy Project has become the first high-profile casualty of the season, canceled after three full seasons, but with a twist: Hulu may already have stepped in to revive the acclaimed comedy.

In news that should surprise approximately no one, a new study from the University of Texas at Austin has discovered that “binge-watching” has been linked to depression, loneliness, and the inability to make wise decisions, like getting off the couch and doing anything else. Researchers Wei-Na Lee, Yoon Hi Sung and Eun Yeon Kang surveyed 316 people between the ages of 18 and 29, asking them about their mental and emotional states while they marathoned TV shows on Netflix (the study defined binge-watching as at least three episodes in a row).

Our spirits over 'Community''s untimely fifth season cancellation were lifted by the notion that Hulu had entered early talks for a sixth season of the Greendale gang, but as was the case with similar fan-favorite 'Happy Endings' before it, no news is decidedly not good news. Now, series creator Dan Harmon has given an update on the Hulu negotiations that won't inspire many feelings of confidence.

With the recent cancellation of 'Community,' there was hope that Netflix might swoop in and grant the show a sixth season, fulfilling a long running joke about the series. It turns out that it might be Hulu that picks up the show for an additional year at Greendale.
