The Lawton Chick-Fil-A in the Mall AKA Central Plaza is Closing

You may, or may not have heard all the rumors about Chick-Fil-A in the Central Plaza in downtown Lawton closing down, but it's true. Sadly they'll be closing this Friday (12-31-21) permanently. Time is running out and so is the food so if you haven't said your goodbyes yet you'll want to stop by ASAP while you still can.

It's a sad, sad day. Chick-Fil-A has been in the mall for as long as I can remember. It may have been there the entire time since it was built back in the seventies. I'm not too sure, but it's been there a long, long time. I hate that it's leaving, especially when it was the closest Chick-Fil-A from home and work. Plus any trip to the mall included Chick-Fil-A. It won't be the same without them, their chicken sandwiches and sweet tea.

I was hoping that the rumors weren't true, but they are. I stopped by this afternoon for a quick lunch and said my goodbyes. We only have a few short days left before they shut it down. In the meantime, they'll continue serving but are out of a lot of menu items. See the photo below for all the details and sad news.

TSM Lawton: Critter

More and more stores are leaving the mall, now known as Central Plaza. It seems that half the mall maybe more is empty. One thing is for sure, there's a TON of retail space available. It seems every other store is closed and there are empty stores everywhere. We've lost a lot of great stores and restaurants over the past year or so, hopefully, things will improve as the city moves forward with the Central Plaza improvements.

So it looks like Lawton, Fort Sill will be down to just one Chick-Fil-A after the new year, maybe they'll consider building another one outside the mall, but who knows? If they do I suggest doing it on the eastside, now that would be ideal. There's plenty of land out there and plenty of would-be customers as well, myself included.

It's going to be weird going to the mall AKA Central Plaza and not seeing Chick-Fil-A there. At least we'll have the recently remodeled, new, and improved Chick-Fil-A on Cache Road. Luckily with the Chick-Fil-A app, I can order ahead pick it up, dine-in, drive-thru, or even get it delivered. I won't go without that's for sure!

If you've driven around town you've probably seen all the murals we have in Lawton, Fort Sill. If you take the time to look you'll notice that they're everywhere. We're lucky to have so many talented artists that share their work with us regularly by painting murals. One name you've probably heard before is Justin Hackney and Spreading PAINT.
