Stopped by the new farmers market in downtown Lawton this morning to take a quick look around. They're making some serious progress and construction crews are working pretty much around the clock. We saw painters, electricians, and plumbers all working on the site this morning when we were there getting pics.

If you've been in downtown Lawton lately you've probably seen all the construction going on near the corner of Gore Blvd. and 4th street across from the police department, near library plaza in downtown. They broke ground on the new site back in November of 2020 and have been busy ever since building the new farmer's market. From what we saw this morning it won't be long before it's open, maybe as soon as this Spring.

The new farmers market will be around 7,600 square feet and will feature both a covered outdoor patio and sales area, plus indoor space and facilities. The funds needed to build it was provided by donations, grants and cost around 3 million to complete. It's a great location and an amazing building and very soon you'll be able to stop in and get all your favorite fresh vegetables and fruits right here in downtown Lawton.

It's getting really close to being done and once finished the new farmers market in downtown Lawton will be open to the public. It'll be nice to have a permanent location. Right now, the farmers market moves from the Great Plains Coliseum parking lot in the Summertime to inside Cameron University's Plant Sciences building in the winter.  Having a permanent home will allow the farmers market to open and operate year-round.
