Despite Oklahoma seeing a relatively calm Tuesday, April 1, meteorologists are still keeping a close eye on storm systems developing early this morning across the state. As of 3 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, approximately 40 counties across central and eastern Oklahoma have been issued a tornado watch. Many weather analysts are watching the areas closely, anticipating severe weather outbreaks.

According to the Storm Prediction Center, much of Oklahoma is currently under a tornado watch, meaning that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop, but none are currently forming. The tornado watch was issued at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 and expires at 10 a.m. the same day.

Although the weather remained calm for majority of the state yesterday, many of the meteorologists in Oklahoma have been urging Oklahomans to "not let their guard down."

Although not all meteorologists are predicting tornadoes, most are predicting some sort of severe weather, ranging from major hail, high winds, severe thunderstorms and the possibility of developing tornadoes.

Even if the storms don't produce full-blown tornadoes, Oklahomans are encouraged to watch the storms closely and prepare as though they can produce similar damage to vehicles and property.

Most importanty, residents need to be able to receive alerts for severe weather during sleeping hours and without the need for internet. The best ways to receive these alerts without electricity or internet are listed below.
