A Burn Ban is in Effect for All of Comanche County, OK.

If you haven't heard the news yet all of Comanche County, OK. is currently under a burn ban. The Comanche County Board of Commissioners met Monday (03-14-22) and voted to enact a burn ban which will remain in effect for the next 2 weeks, 14 days, or until ground conditions improve and the high fire danger/risk lessens.

Yesterday (03-15-22) there was a fire near Geronimo around the intersection of Southeast Devine Road and Southeast New Hope Road that burned several abandoned vehicles and buildings. There have been reports of other fires in the county as well. The conditions are perfect for wildfires which is why the burn ban was put into effect. You'll want to be very careful out there and make sure you're not violating the burn ban.

Avoid doing anything that could possibly ignite a fire outdoors. That includes burning trash, bonfires, cutting, welding, and even grilling near combustible material. Whatever you do, don't throw your lit cigarette butts out of the window while driving. Those have caused a lot of fires recently.
