Christmas might be over, but the holiday season is still rolling. And where there's a party, there's always a chance of finding a party pooper somewhere nearby. All jokes aside, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol knows that families and friends want to enjoy this time of year to the max - heck, they do, too!

But, they also want to make sure that everyone is doing so safely. With so many options to prevent mistakes like drinking and driving or assaults between folks, there shouldn't be nearly as many issues as there usually are.

That being said, there's really specific tell-tale signs of the drivers that Oklahoma law enforcement will be more likely to pull over. Avoid making these mistakes and you should be ticket-free come 2026!

The obvious, but debatably, the most dangerous drivers likely to be pulled over.

The entire nation seems to have an issue with drinking and driving on New Year's Eve, and Oklahoma drivers are guilty of contributing to the problem. Each year, the number of fatalities in Oklahoma because of impaired drivers rises and this year, law enforcement are taking the issue seriously.

They've already announced several places they will be doing DUI stops, and with the new law intensifying the consequence for drunk driving, police officers aren't cutting any corners.

Obviously, if you're swerving on the roads, speeding or not maintaining speed, and not driving normally (i.e. sitting at a green stop light for an extended period of time), don't be surprised if you see red and blue behind you.

Flashing lights, booming music, and a little unruliness.

As a live music performer, I've spent many New Years mornings driving back home after a show. I've seen the differences between Lyft and Uber drivers and the people who probably shouldn't be behind the wheel.

Don't get me wrong, we all love a festive vehicle decorated in lights and reindeer antlers. But, if you're driving 80 in a 65, you're definitely not going to be easy to hide from the coppers. Of course, anyone driving over the speed limit is liable to be pulled over, but think about it - which vehicles will catch someone's eye first?

Drivers who seem like they're taking the party from the bar to the street will likely draw some attention to themselves. Blaring loud music, cutting in and out of traffic, yelling and screaming out of the windows of the car - these are all for-sure signs to get law enforcement looking at you.

Play it safe and stay home or hire a DD for New Years, Oklahoma.

Genuinely, we've seen far too many families and friends lose their lives all due to a completely preventable situation. Oklahoma City's Fire Department shared that they've lost 146 people due to drinking and driving incidents during the holidays, and that's just the number of people lost in OKC.

Hire an Uber, bring a SOBER friend who doesn't touch an ounce of alcohol, or just stay home for the New Year celebration.
