Just imagine the gut-wrenching feeling of coasting down the highway, just minding your own business, until you see a black charger flip his lights behind you. It's the same feeling many other Oklahomans get; unsurprisingly, since we sit at number four on the rankings for the worst drivers.

However, our lack of driving skills don't usually have to do with speeding - it's more related to road rage issues (it's hot and we're tired, okay?).

That's why it's even more shocking to know that the fastest speeding ticket ever recorded in Oklahoma was for a 19-year-old driver going 208 miles an hour.

Back in 2016, Hector Fraire tried to elude police during a chase by cutting off his headlights and brake lights to his 2011 Ford Mustang while proceeding to drive over 200 miles per hour down the Kilpatrick Turnpike.

Originally, he was clocked going 84mph by a Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) officer. When OHP tried to pull him over, that's when Fraire tried to outrun him, coincidentally passing a Canadian County Deputy on Northwest Expressway.

The deputy pulled over Fraire in a parking lot, who, thankfully, just pulled over and dropped the keys outside of the drivers window.

Fraire was incredibly lucky not to have wrecked from his speed, which unfortunately is not the truth for a lot of other drivers. In 2023 alone, one in five fatal accidents on the road involved speeding drivers in Oklahoma.

Instead, Fraire was arrested for reckless driving and attempting to elude.

Do you often feel the need for speed? There's a theory about speeding, especially in the heartland of America... The less there is to see, the faster you want to get through it. It's a solid theory.

All the same, driving 100+ MPH down most of Oklahoma's highways might be more in line with a wild death wish, but many people do. Here's a quick list from OHP where speed demons are caught the most in the Sooner State.

Lawton's Worst Roads As Voted By You

Roads have always been a hot topic in Lawton. The local government always promises to fix them when elections are at stake, but the improvements never come. It's more of the same crumbling roads and bandaid patches due to what the city describes as "too little funding," even though we continually vote for bonds to satisfy these issues.

Here are the worst commonly used roads in Lawton as voted by you.
