Due to the recent tariffs, many places around the country are seeing higher costs of fireworks this year. As a result, some fireworks stands have canceled new shipments and therefore may have a limited supply for sales in order to keep from raising prices. Some, however, have had to raise prices unfortunately.

Many Oklahomans have already begun searching for the best places to celebrate the fourth of July this year, but one thought has crossed a few minds: do less fireworks in stock mean there will be less displays?

Whether families are planning on celebrating Independence Day with a town-wide celebration or just with the family, the price increase problem will affect everyone in all scenarios (unless you aren't setting off fireworks).

Massive fireworks shows take more than one business to make possible.

A Facebook user from Chickasha, Oklahoma recently shared her thoughts on the annual fireworks display that the town hosts for events like Independence Day, and what all it takes to make these events happen.

"My family and I have enjoyed years of watching fireworks at Shannon Springs park every July 4th," she wrote. "I never realized how expensive those fireworks are." Despite the fact that fireworks can be a costly endeavor, businesses in Chickasha constantly show support through donations to make the show happen.

This year, the costs are even higher than they usually are for everyone in Oklahoma.

Will this cost affect families and other cities being able to set off more fireworks this year?

The good news is, it doesn't look likely. Representatives from the Fireworks Warehouse in OKC told shared their thoughts with us.

"While our prediction is for lower stock in stands this season, we do not anticipate a full shortage by any means," they said.

Although they couldn't speak on behalf for commercial fireworks sales, they had a positive outlook for families being able to have what they want for their own celebrations at home.

"I can say our regular retail customers who shoot small shows for their friends, family, and neighborhoods have already begun shopping and are fully stocked to the season ahead."

Choose your local fireworks stand wisely, it could be helping students in your community.

If you're trying to decide where your money will be best spent if you're going to fork over a fortune for fireworks, there's a few places that could benefit from your help.

Small stands like the Pride of Elgin Band and Owlettes Fireworks Stand in Elgin, Oklahoma use the opportunity to raise money for helping cover food, travel, hotel costs, and competition fees.

Another stand that does things similarly is the Big Blast Fireworks Stand in Jenks, Oklahoma that routinely helps support Jenks High School band students each year.

If you're planning on purchasing fireworks this year, you might want to consider stocking up soon and reaching out to your local community to see how your purchase can go back to the people and places around your area.

Oklahoma's Best 4th of July Celebrations

There's nothing like celebrating America's independence in the heartland, and Oklahoma practically overflows with patriotism across the state. While most towns have their own celebrations, some are larger than others. Since it would be hard to catch all of them in one day, they're spread out a bit over two and a half weeks, pick one or more and let your American flag fly.
