It's one of the oldest and most active paranormal hotspots in the Sooner State. This historic Military post in Oklahoma is as well known for its hauntings as its history. Built in 1874 it has a tragic and terrifying past.
If you've never heard of it before you'll find this historically haunted post in El Reno, OK. It's the legendary Fort Reno. For almost 150 years the fort has stood, it was once abandoned and even used as a POW camp.

Fort Reno started as a camp and then was built into what we see today in 1874 after the Red River War. Originally its primary focus was protecting the Southern Cheyenne and Southern Arapaho reservations.

Fort Reno later became a U.S. Army Cavalry post and was home to the famous 9th Cavalry and the legendary Buffalo Soldiers. After Oklahoma obtained statehood in 1907 the fort closed but was later used during WWII.

Fort Reno once closed remained a Quartermaster Remount Depot then was repurposed during WWII to serve as a POW camp. Both German and Italian prisoners of war were kept and housed there throughout the war.
With such a long and tragic history of war, death, and suffering it's no wonder the place is haunted. Fort Reno has seen more than its fair share of wars, unsolved murders, unexplained deaths, suicides, and misery.
