This Is Guaranteed To Be The Quietest Dance Party in Oklahoma
The days of dance clubs and night life have been long gone for certain parts of Oklahoma. But, at the end of this month, a new and different kind of event will hopefully bring back night fun for the 21 and up crowd in Lawton, Oklahoma.
On October 26th, the Young Professionals of Lawton (YPL) is hosting the first ever Silent Disco event at the Great Plains Coliseum Annex at the Comanche County Fairgrounds in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Silent Disco Coming to Lawton, Oklahoma
It's just like many other dances like back in the day, with all kinds of music - R&B, Latin, Top 40s - but the music is coming from wireless headphones that each individual person will be wearing at the event. Even better, each individual person can switch between tracks, so you can be listening to what you want to while jamming out with everyone else.
Since the event is just days before Halloween, it makes the perfect opportunity for everyone to get dressed up in your Halloween costume and take a night out on the town with your friends without giving up your Halloween weekend.
What Is A Silent Disco?
Silent Discos have become one of the most popular ways to enjoy music in big cities around the country.

They've been used at music festivals, rooftop bars, parks and even in historic buildings. The first instance of headphones being used at an event can be traced back as early as 1969.

The chair of the Young Professionals of Lawton, Kaylee Montgomery, said that the idea of the event came from wanting to give the young folks in Lawton something positive and fun. "We wanted to create something fun, safe, and memorable for everyone, and we can’t wait to see everyone in their creative costumes," she said in the recent press release.

You can get tickets now online for $25 a piece for YPL members and $35 for non-members. They will be costlier at the door, so the cheaper option will be to purchase in advance. Remember, this is a 21 and over event, so bring your ID and cash for the cash bar.
If making big moves for Lawton sounds like something you're interested in doing, you may benefit from becoming a YPL member. According to the YPL, the organization "serves as a developmental hub to connect young career bound leaders to the social, civic, and business resources within the community."
