Lawton Could be Getting a New Internet and Cable Company in 2022
Looks like Lawton, Fort Sill will be getting a new internet and cable company sometime in 2022.
From what we're hearing it could be as early as June/July of next year. At this time the City of Lawton and community leaders are addressing the current city ordinances as they relate to internet/television providers and working on the franchise agreement with the new company. If all goes well we could have an all-new provider in 2022. Hopefully, the process goes smoothly and there are no issues or set backs going forward.
So who is this new company that's coming to town? The name of the company is called Bluepeak.
You can get more information about them at the official website and on their Facebook page. Once all the details are ironed out Bluepeak will begin the process of laying fiber optic cable both in-ground and above. It's estimated that they'll be investing over 30 million dollars in upgrades and infrastructure around Lawton, Fort Sill to support the new service. Most if not all of Lawton will have access to fiber-optic internet!
The new service will be fiber optic internet and offer speeds up to 5 gig for households and up to 10 gig for businesses. You'll have several different options and speed packages to choose from, click here to get all the details. According to Bluepeak, their internet is beyond lightning fast and there are no hidden fees, red tape, or extra charges. The plan you pick is exactly what you pay and what you actually get.
Bluepeak are no strangers to Oklahoma they're already in several different locations across the state and will soon be coming to Clinton, Tonkawa, and Enid. From what it looks like when they come to Lawton they'll also expand into Duncan and Chickasha as well. There's some great news to start 2022 off with!
So what about television? Bluepeak offers that too and it's run through the fiberoptic network. Like their internet offerings, you have several different choices as far as programming packages. We'll keep you up to date with the progress and as soon as we hear anything one way or another we'll be sure to pass it along. It will be nice to finally have some options and competition in town when it comes to TV and internet providers. The days of habitual lag, buffering, and disconnects are thankfully coming to an end!
