Ten Most Affordable Oklahoma Towns to Live in 2023
In times of recession like now, when grocery budgets are stretched to the absolute max and fuel prices make it seem as if you're paying to go to work, small changes add up to larger savings.
While it is very challenging to move up the ladder of life during financially unstable times, it's far easier to make your money stretch further. You might opt for store-brand items instead of premium labels, trade in that big car payment for something more affordable, even move the family into a more affordable place to live or move to a cheaper community altogether.
When it comes down to researching which Oklahoma cities and towns are the most affordable, the lists vary greatly based on whatever metrics they measure. Some sell the cost of living savings in one-horse towns nobody in their right mind would move to... others are comparative in nature.
Example: Norman is expensive, but it's a lot cheaper than Nichols Hills.
On the flip side of that is measuring just the cost of living as a stand-alone metric. Those lists usually suggest moving to the kind of towns nobody would want to live in anyway.
Example: Anadarko is the most affordable city in Oklahoma... but they also fail to mention there's a very low median income that goes hand-in-hand with living there.
As aggravating as it is trying to do your own research, there is at least one study that measures the quality of life in a basic sense... the cost of living vs median pay. That's a list worth looking at.
