The current King of American Fast Food has reigned supreme across the land for nearly a decade now, but what is it going to take to knock it out of the top spot?

For nine straight years, Chick-Fil-A has been the overwhelming favorite fast food eatery across this country. Or rather, it has been voted as the favorite in more states than any other national brand.

Not surprisingly, Oklahoma aligns with this trend, opting for Fil-A's natural chicken breast nuggets over mechanically-separated but humble McNugget once again, but not without serious competition.

By far the biggest fast food operator in the Sooner State is McDonald's with 155 stores vs Chil-Fil-A's 50 total locations... though the added food truck and mobile food trailer sales some restaurant owners opt for might realistically skew that number a little higher.

Why is Chick-Fil-A so popular?

Have you eaten there? The chicken is so universally good. The sandwiches are made from whole chicken breasts made fresh at each brick-and-mortar location, and the nuggets are just cut-up breasts made the same way.

Chick-Fil-A even has tasty healthier options in the grilled sandwiches and nuggets, not to mention the fruit cups and fresh salads. It's universally the one place parents and kids agree on when looking for a quick bite.

But it's so expensive!

Yeah. It is... but even so, McDonald's (second favorite fast-food eatery in Oklahoma) makes infinitely more money than Chick-Fil-A, but that doesn't really mean anything, does it?

People don't typically swing into a McDonald's because the burgers or McChickens are so good... they go because it's cheap. Not as cheap as it once was, but with the stacking value options and discounts available in the app, McD's is the value meal when the wallet gets tight.

It's not just the nuggets either...

Oklahoma also voted Chick-Fil-A as their favorite breakfast spot too. If you've ever driven by the Cache Road location on any given morning, the never-ending lines are a testament to how much people love this chicken.

So, nobody picked McDonald's?

Sure they did. McDonald's is the second most popular fast food eatery in America. Particularly in states that either don't have or have very few Chick-Fil-A's. Mostly Northern states.

Kansas opted for Jack in the Box, Vermont is living mas with Taco Bell, and Montana stunned the nation by naming Sonic their favorite restaurant... which is weird because nobody goes to Sonic for the food. It's all about the drinks and that pellet ice.

It's worth mentioning, Oklahoma-based Braum's also scored very high in the state.
