Revealing: Best Theme Songs for Small Towns Across Oklahoma
Some towns in Oklahoma are hardly ever heard of, let alone visited by anyone besides the towns' locals. If you could pick a theme song for the small towns in Oklahoma, what would you choose? Take a look at our list of songs we think fit the town, or the town's people, in a nutshell.
Chattanooga, Oklahoma - "Family Tradition" by Hank Williams Jr.
Tucked away in the southern part of Oklahoma, the tiny town of Chattanooga holds 420 people that love to work hard and party even harder. The good thing about small communities like "Chatty" is that no one knows a stranger... unless you are one.
Lawton, Oklahoma - "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees
If you've ever been in Lawton, you know that's pretty much all anyone is doing around here - just staying alive. As of writing this post, a little over 90,000 people have succeeded.
Blair, Oklahoma - "When the Sun Goes Down" by Kenny Chesney
After visiting the historical drug store and the restaurant on Main Street, there isn't much to stick around for in Blair, Oklahoma. But, like any town with good Ol' boys and plenty of backroads, the real fun begins when the sun goes down. If you're ever in town, be sure and say hi to the meager 699 people that reside in Blair.
Cyril, Oklahoma - "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood
The native Oklahoman artist hit the nail on the head with this song. The Cyril community is known for their resilience in tough times and supportive attitude for their own that you can't miss while driving through. You'll often see celebration messages for birthdays, sports competitions, concerts and more. Last but not least, you'll see nearly all the 722 people that live in the town at church on Sunday, Wednesday, both or more.
Medicine Park, Oklahoma - "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies
Walk down main street of Medicine Park and tell me you don't feel the magic of the place, with history right at your fingers and the town's regulars welcoming everyone - tourists and more. Although you'll find many, many more people visiting throughout the year, only 488 people actually live in Medicine Park
Frederick, Oklahoma - "Should've Been a Cowboy" by Toby Keith
It's not uncommon to see a trailer or two parked in the parking lot while the family gets together for dinner. When you're visiting Frederick, make sure you're up-to-date on your manners: hold the door for ladies, remove your cap or hat when you shake hands and get rid of the chew before you get to the table. There are currently 3,481 people living in the town.
Elgin, Oklahoma - "Glamorous" by Fergie
A once truly small town, Elgin has grown immensely in recent years. At one point, the town was growing so quickly that many thought the town had a Walmart moving in. Even without the big city status, these folks have high standards and pride in their community. As of 2024, Elgin is up to 3,724 residents.
Fletcher, Oklahoma - "Small Town Saturday Night" by Hal Ketchum
The most exciting things to happen in Fletcher, Oklahoma is the Hay Days celebration and free fair that happens every Labor Day weekend. Besides that, you're not missing much outside of the few new businesses lining main street. Although, we can safely say the lone stop light that used to be on Main Street wasn't shot out quite like Hal Ketchum sang about. If you decide to move into the quaint little town, you'll be joining the 1,285 people that live there now.
Corn, Oklahoma - "Big Green Tractor" by Jason Aldean
We didn't just pick this song because of the obvious love of farming in the Corn community. Many families and generations grew up with tractors, trucks and country living. In fact, there's one specific family that lost a loved one by being struck by lightning while driving on their tractor. Currently, only 573 people reside in Corn, Oklahoma.
Hollis, Oklahoma - "Hollis, Oklahoma" by Tyler McCumber Band
Thanks to Kelso from Townsquare's sister station Z94, we had a little insight on his hometown in one of the farthest southwest pockets of Oklahoma. Although 1,717 people are more than what we've seen in the other small towns - those numbers can't compare to Oklahoma City's nearly 700,000.
We think these songs fit the towns pretty well, but if you have another suggestion, tell us! Share what you think your hometown's theme song would be on our app.
